The Happy Hippy Soap Company ("we," "us") runs the online shop at thehappyhippysoapcompany.ca. We're a small, family-run soap maker on Gabriola Island, BC, and we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what we do with it.

What we collect

  • When you place an order: your name, email, phone number, billing and shipping address, and order details. Payment card details are handled securely by our payment processor; we never see or store your full card number.
  • When you join our Insiders list or contact us: your email address, and anything you choose to tell us.
  • When you browse our site: basic technical information such as your browser, device, IP address and the pages you visit, collected through cookies.

How we use it

  • To process, ship and support your orders
  • To answer your questions
  • To send you our newsletter, only if you've signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
  • To understand how our site is used, so we can improve it
  • To prevent fraud and meet our legal and tax obligations

We never sell or rent your personal information.

Who we share it with

We only share what's needed with the services that help us run the shop:

  • Shopify, which hosts our store and processes payments (Shopify's privacy policy)
  • Canada Post, to deliver your order
  • Gelato, our printing partner, for orders that include art prints or posters
  • Our email newsletter provider, for Insiders list subscribers

We may also share information if the law requires it.

Cookies

Our shop uses cookies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, and help us understand site traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the shop may not work properly without them.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting and tax purposes (generally six years in Canada), and newsletter details until you unsubscribe.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to any records we must keep by law. Just email us.

Where your information is stored

Our service providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
